Swimming and Shots

Yesterday after work we went to the in-laws so Jake could go swimming. After feeling the water I thought it was warm enough for Sean to put his bitty little suit on and join brother. Here was his reaction:

I'm gonna go with too cold? NOT a happy baby. Jake had fun though:

Then this morning it was Shot day. !. 4 of them. I took video of the before, but I wasnt able to take any of the after. He wasnt pleased then either! I am really enjoying this whole video thing... not that you'd be able to tell or anything!
This is what a 15 pound, 25 3/4 inch baby looks like!

The long weekend

We have video and pics and that's really about it.

About the video - there's 2. Well, 2 parts to the same thing. As a preface, you should know that this is the first time I have used the video function on my little camera. It has sound (!) but the picture quality is grainy. There's no flash with video - who knew?

The other day, Sunday I think, I was home alone with the kids. Jake decided that he wanted to listen to rock n roll with Sean, so I put Sean on Jake's bed and went to clean the living room. A little bit later I hear Jake playing his guitar and singing. Too funny. So I grab my camera, put it on video and walk in. Jake is standing on the bed straddling Sean who is laying on the bed and Jake is just playing away on his guitar. I thought I had pressed the record button on the camera, but I hadnt. That sucks because it was TOOOO cute! Jake caught me, but I managed to get the following video - in 2 parts.

(Sorry, I was unsuccessful at putting the video here, so you'll have to go there. I'll work on it for next time. If there is a next time.)

I swear he cracks me up! And now that I know that my little camera has ears... I may do this more often!

On Sunday, Chewie helped me look through the paper:

Sean gets a boost (please notice the pillow under his feet)

And looking mischevious.

And angelic... as "The Thinker":
And I found some baby pics of me - the baby baby one is at 3 months, and the other one I'm guessing maybe 3 or 4? Please notice the avacado green blender and macrame hanging laying on the counter. Just thought I'd point those out!
That's it for now. Have a great day.

A brief statement

On sleeping through the night.

YAY! Yay! Yay! Yay! (that would be 4 nights...)

That is all.

My kid, the scardey cat, er lion.

Jake was a MESS when I got home. MESS!! When I started getting him dressed in his lion costume, he started crying. He. Was. Petrified. We got him to the school and he was hysterical. To the classroom and he's LITERALLY hanging on to the door frame like we were feeding him to real lions. He said this was boring, and he was dumb and a loser. Trust me, those words have never come from our mouthes! I felt so bad to leave him with his teachers. 2 of the, thats how many it took to keep him from bolting. So, when it came time for them to come out, I wasnt quite sure what to expect.
He came out, minus the mittens (which i had in my bag as a trade off to try to help), minus the mane and minus the hood. So basically he looked like he was wearing a furry tan sweatsuit. With a tail. I still felt bad for him, but I worked SO hard on it - and those were the hardest parts with that long furry hair! Here's as good a pic as my camera would allow (that's him at the mic reading):

He read really good. The rest of the time, both in costume and afterwards in his cap & gown he kept "punching" himself in the head. often. I dont have the cap & gown pics, I took those with Travis' camera, and I dont have them yet. He was so very handsome in his little suit with the clip-on tie! Too cute.
Meanwhile, My Mom and Cliff spent some quality time trying to get Sean to stick his tounge back at them when they did it to him. This is how well it worked:

I call that successful!
And this morning I saw these guys when I got to work:
On a yarn front - I finished second square for the comfortghan and I am 7 rows into the shawl. I think I've messed up my count so I'm fudging and pretending to be on row 6 and hope nobody notices the double row since I cant reliably count to 2 (its 1 row of decreases then 1 row of knit. I did 2 rows of knit. Whoops). You wont tell will you? And also, I had forgotten how much stuff flies off the angora when it's being worked with! I will try to remember to take pics of it tomorrow.

sad lion and pizza pics

I finished the lion, and took a pic of Jake in it yesterday afternoon. He is VERY nervous of his play tonight, and was almost in tears as he put on his lion costume. Wait, he was fine when he put it on, but upset when I went to get my camera. Here's what it looked like:

So pathetic, but the costume looks good!

We went and got pizza and while we were waiting, we were taking pictures. Jake LOVES to take pictures. Here are some:

I started working on the shawl - I decided to do it in the angora, and Drew didnt write me back yet. Perhaps he's just behind on his famous guy emails? And since I had bought the yarn for the shawl already at AC Moore, and it is in a vanilla color, that will now be Mom's not-secret sweater. Good plan? Of course it is.

And speaking of math, It took me 25 minutes to make sure that I had counted to 192 correctly. 25 minutes. That was quadruple checking it. No, I think I counted parts of it 5 or 6 times. And by parts, I had to split it up with 2 stitch markers - like 1-88, stitch marker, 89-105, stitch marker and 106 - 192. I pray that Jake is a better math dude than I am. Please, let Jake be a better math person than me!

Thats really it for now. I'll post pics tomorrow of the Big Night!

It. Is. Finished.

The Lion that is. Oh, and square #1 for Deanna's comfort ghan. You can see part of the lion and the square. Wanna? Of course you do:

Jake, as the lion, minus the shirt (I'll take a more, um, complete pic tonight):
Afghan square #1. I started #2, it's just a granny and 3/4 done. I finished this and started the other at lunch today. It's gone quick. I need to look at Drew's (www.thecrochetdude.com) squares from his flying squares afghan to see if I can find one I can do quick. Maybe I'll ask him for his fave?

Saturday we went to Damarys' Housewarming party. I tried to take some cute Sean pics, but he really didnt want to cooperate. Here's the best I got:

fun fun.
And here is her afghan. She likes it:

Sunday I took my Mom, her friend Ann, Ann's
daughter Kylie and Kylie's friend Mariah to Animal Kingdom. I stayed for a little bit, then went to AC Moore for some yarn shopping. I found the yarn for the crack shawl I'm planning to make for the Convention, plus some sock yarn (who knew?) and some needles for the shawl and Mom's not-gonna-be-a-suprise Christmas sweater. No luck yet on the yarn for the sweater, this is what they want me to use: http://www.pacificwoolandfiber.com/Euroflax%20Linen.htm

which is VERY pretty, and $20 a skein. I need 4. So, I'm now on the lookout for something with nice drape that is NOT gonna make an $80 sweater. I mean, I love my mom, but not that much! Suggestions are welcomed.

Gnombert got his groove on at DAK:

not what I wanted

I was talking with my Mom yesterday about Sean, and that I think he looks like me and I was happy to have a kid that looks like me... because Jake? Not so much.

She doesnt really think he looks like ME, just a combination of Travis and I. I wanted to show her pics from when I was a baby (because obviously I remember this time of my life better than my Mom?). So this morning I searched for my Engagement scrapbook - cause I did a "growing up" page of myself and Travis - for a picture. And I searched, and searched. No luck.

So, that will be my project this weekend, along with finishing the stupid lion costume, finishing Damarys' afghan (which WILL be done at lunch today), and working on my comforghan squares... all while attending Damarys' housewarming party, taking my Mom and friends to Animal Kingdom and being a mommy. Hi delusional, nice to meet ya! Wish me luck.

At least my MIL will be keeping #1, and I will be toting around #2, so thats a little less to worry about.

Speaking of impossible - I bought a new book at Borders on Wednesday. A knitting book. For $6. And I have found at least 4 things that I MUST make from it. Including a sweater for myself, a sweater for my mom (in angora)(I can say that here because she doesnt read this, just looks at the pictures)(we'll call this a test, shall we?), a sweater for Jake & a shawl for the Silent Auction at convention. The shawl is the impossible part. I THINK I will be able to work a shawl made from LACEWEIGHT yarn, I think I will be able to knit this thing. Yeah, delusional. We'll see how that works out for me. Please dont remind me of this post in 4 months when I am sitting in a corner biting my hair because I cant knit a stupid laceweight shawl and only have 4 days until convention and what the hell will I put in the auction and maybe they will want a skull hat. sigh.

That's really it for now, I will leave you with a pic of the kids that I will dig up now because I have nothing new. Both at Disney - Sean eating a blanket because thats what he loves to do and Jake working on his recipricol blogging, yet he is, sadly, blogless.

Mothers Day stuff

Ok, here are the pics of my Mothers Day stash.

First is Jake's card (inside and front), then the Shoe plant from him.

And this is Sean's gift:
That's it. More later.

Fiddles on fire!

Well not really on fire, but pretty dang hot. Hehe, I said dang. This pic is NOT during Devil Went Down to Georgia, I was too busy singing, dancing and carrying on to take pics, but you get the gist:

Friday night was the Charlie Daniels Concert. Kerry and I enjoyed ourselves a lot (see how Hans TRIED to butt into our pic?):

So did this guy:

Gnombert was impressed by the beer:

And Hans' hat:

And Charlie Daniels:

Saturday I went shopping with the MIL, got a few outfits - ALL on sale for wonderful prices, and the pants were normal pants that actually fit - something that has been strangely hard to find lately. Then Sunday, of course, was Mothers Day. I got a card from Jake, who also drew me one because he said that just putting his name on Daddy's card wasnt enough (awww). I forgot to bring it or take a pic, I'll try to remember that tonight. He also gave me a potted flower (potted in an old sneaker)(yes his) that he made at school. Sean gave me a potted plant he "made" at daycare. We had bbq at the in-laws - yummo. That's really about it. I'll try to remember to take pics tonight.
That's really it for now. Dentist tomorrow morning - whoopie. I have not finished the edging on Damarys' afghan - I have one long side done and the other long side almost done... then the 2 short sides and end-weaving. I have not started my squares for the comfortghan, although Kerry gave me 2 of them at the concert. I will start on this once Damarys' ghan is done. I havent touched the sweater for me, but thats ok, its a LONG way away for sweater weather.
I am toying with the idea of applying for Deal or No Deal - I REALLY think that Howie would enjoy some quality time with my sock... that's gimicky enough, right?

Thursday

Not really much to report. I have not yet started on my squares for my friends comfortghan, I am still trying to finish up Damarys' afghan for her jousewarming next weekend. Almost done with that, then on to the squares. I'm not really sure yet what I'm going to do for squares either - I've been playing with that in my head for about a week now - some ideas and I am looking forward to swatching them out to see how they look.

Tomorrow Jake goes on his Graduation Fieldtrip Pirate cruise - he's very excited, and I'm having him take his camera to take pics. Travis, who is going with him, will have his camera too, but I love when Jake takes pics - he's usually pretty ok at them too!

We got out the Exersaucer out of the attic for Sean. He's a little bit small for it, but here's what he looks like in it:

And finally, this is what the sun looked like night before last. Really weird, I think it's all the smoke in the air that made it so red:

Our weekend, abridged-ish

I dont have a lot of time right now, maybe more later on, and I will try to add an adendum, we'll see. Saturday was, um, nothing. Sunday we went to Epcot for Flower and Garden Fest, with a quick stop at Magic Kingdom to check out the new Laugh Factory show - TOO funny, except not for Sean who was kind of scared of the loud bouts of laughter. I had to take him outside. Oh well.
MK & Epcot - flowers, veggies, gnomes, and characters (at lunch). Here's some pics.
This is on the Monorail:

And Sean's 1st ears on Main St & the lady making them... I think her name was Sara:

Flowers (pic that Jake took) and Gnombert eyeing some carrots:

This is at lunch at the Garden Grill (Mickey, Pluto, Chip & Dale) Jake wouldnt participate with the characters much until we had him start taking pics:

Chip, Jake, Sean and I.

Mickey, Sean and I.

And because everybody loves gnome pictures:

And no worries, Gnombert did not make it into Sean's mouth. Close to, but not in.

*(note to self: taking self-portraits, even if they are with an adorable gnome, from below, make you have 2 bad chins!)

8 and 2

That's 8 years, 2 days. Seems like longer maybe? Not sure. Anyway, we had a good time in Panama City and missed the kiddies like crazy. I was pretty amused by the hermit crabs, regular crabs and fiddler crabs all along the beach and in the water at Bay Point -

And Travis was amused by the planes that kept flying by from the nearby Air Force Base.

Food was good, room was nice, and even though we didnt sleep in, it was un-interupted.

While we were gone, Jake got his Yellow Belt:

And Sean grew 3 feet. Well maybe not 3 feet, but Liz thinks he rolled over! I tried to get him to do it this morning with no luck. Maybe tonight!
